One of the most common questions we get asked during fittings is
How would you accessorize this?
We heard you, ladies, and we’re here to help! Here is a simple guide to picking a necklace to perfectly compliment our most common necklines, here at RfR.

The key to accessorizing a turtleneck is length. Your best option is a nice long line, it can be a chain, a string of pearls, or a bohemian inspired long pendant, as we have done here. Paired with our Doo.Ri Teal Cashmere Turtleneck Tulip Dress this necklace elongates the line of the dress making the turtleneck sophisticated and classic.

Crew Neck

A crew neck dress is flattering on a variety of body types. Here we have our Yigal Azrouel Bazooka Stretch Metal Taffeta Dress, a gorgeous choice for that summer wedding! What I love about a crew neck is that when paired with a bib necklace, as we’ve done, the necklace appears to be a collar. As if it were a part of the dress, it blends seamlessly in to the neckline.

No doubt about it, summer has arrived! A strapless dress, such as this David Dixon Red Lace Strapless Dress is a great option for the warmer months. A wonderful way to show off those great bare shoulders and neck is with a big choker style necklace that sits just above the collarbone.

It doesn’t get more classic than the sweetheart neckline. Feminine and flattering on just about everyone, it’s complimented the best with a necklace that mimics (but doesn’t copy) the curved shape. It can be one solid piece, or a string of jewels, to really tie in with the shape on our Badgley Mischka Yellow and White Strapless Tiered Peplum Dress.

As with the sweetheart, a v-neck dress is brought to life best with a v-shaped piece of jewelry. Here we have paired our Farah Khan Silver V-Neck Long Sleeved Sequin Dress with a bold turquoise statement necklace, for a pop of colour! Another nice thing about this pairing is that if you are feeling too exposed in a deep V, the necklace will give the illusion of more coverage.

Ah, the quirky cousin of the neckline family, the asymmetric. Given the unique shape of the neckline, an asymmetric neckline can seem like an odd fit for jewelry – but it’s really quite simple! A low sitting choker, as seen here with our Nicole Miller Charcoal One Shoulder Architectural Dress is the perfect choice as it doesn’t compete with the strong shape of the dress itself.

We hope this quick guide to necklines has been helpful! All of the accessories shown here are available for rent and if you are still unsure as to which one is the perfect match for your frock, book a Private Fitting or Skype consultation and let us help you decide!
